Detoxing nicotine process with determination....

I am (47) and been smoking since I was 19 years old. I decided to stop smoking (cold turkey) on July 24,2011 when I was on the beach and had one left in package. Felt myself anxious , like something missing, would reach out with hands in search of something to ease the crave of the mind movements that I was so accustomed to for many years. Miss the smoke breaks @ work. However I don't miss the smell on me, clothes, or car. I will continue my determination in the hopes I don't relapse. :)

Nicotine Detox Editor Reply: Thanks for sharing with us. It's going to be a whole new life without smoke. A great book for quitting smoking is The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr
icon It has some great reviews and seems to be the best on the market for motivation and tips to stick to your goals. Good luck.

hurrah, no nicotine no more

I am 51, smoked since the age of 17. I stoped smoking on 19 july 2011 and it is two months later. Must say I feel good, still crave a sigarette after dinner. I have changed my eating habits and so far have not picked up any weight. I walk a lot and drink lots of green tea. No sugar and watch my calorie intake. I am out to prove that you don't have to pick up weigh when you stop smoking. So, good luck to all who have stopped and to who are going to stop. It is the best thing you can ever do for yourself.

Good luck and stay positive on kicking the habit.

My husband quit last November after many years of smoking and many attempts to quit. Initially he had some weight gain but after awhile was able to lose most of it without really trying. He was underweight to start. So I guess what I'm saying is try not to panic if that happens. You're body will be adjusting and you'll be able to lose it.

Another thing that I think will make it permanent for him this time, is that his mother gave him a card with $100 in it and he really doesn't want to feel like he let her down.
